The Royal Mint London 2012 Sports Collection Aquatics 50p Coin
In January of 2009 The Royal Mint launched a nationwide competition inviting the British public to create designs for a new series of 50p coins intended to commemorate the 2012 Summer Olympics. The 30 000 entries that were submitted have been narrowed down to the best design for each of the 29 featured sports to create lasting mementos of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.
